The Page Metadata (PMD) file can render either as an edit page, a view page, or a confirmation page.

## <a id="section_g3j_jc2_3pb"></a>Edit Page

An edit page:

- Displays when:

    - The PMD contains `outboundData`, or
    - The `presentation` tag in the PMD contains `"pageType": "edit"`.

- Renders editable widgets on which users can select or enter data. By default, the `enabled` attribute of all tags on an edit page is true.

An edit page enables you to bind tag attribute values dynamically from a data source, function, or another widget during page interactions. You can call PMD Scripting event handlers to perform data manipulations, calculations, and validations as users interact with the edit page. Example: An `onChange` event handler can set `text.value` with a value from an endpoint, or set `text.visible` based on a `checkbox.value`. The data type of a tag attribute indicates whether or not the attribute supports dynamic binding.

Several PMD Scripting events are available on edit pages. For information about PMD Scripting events on edit pages, see "Event Handling" in [Concept: PMD Scripting](/wcp_docs/oli1581402304020.html).

An edit page can also have read-only widgets. To add a read-only widget on an edit page, set the `enabled` attribute of the tag to false. You can conditionally set the `enabled` attribute, depending on your business logic.

- Displays these default buttons at the bottom of the page:

    - <b>OK</b> - Submits all outbound endpoints with the data entered on the widgets, and navigates to another page.
    - <b>Cancel</b> - Doesn't submit any outbound endpoint, and navigates to the previous page.

When a page is canceled in an edit flow, Workday keeps its flow variables when the user navigates to the previous page.

## <a id="section_nxc_lc2_3pb"></a>View Page

A view page:

- Displays when:

    - The PMD doesn't contain `outboundData`, or
    - The `presentation` tag in the PMD contains `"pageType": "view"`.

- Renders widgets that display read-only data.

A view page enables you to bind tag attribute values from an inbound data source or function during page load. Example: You can set `text.value` with a value from an inbound endpoint. However, you can't dynamically set values from another widget on a view page. The data type of a tag attribute indicates whether or not the attribute supports binding.

    Notes:

    - The `enabled` attribute of a tag doesn't apply on view pages.
    - The tags on a view page can't reference other widgets on the page.
    - The `onLoad` event is available on view pages. For information about PMD Scripting events, see "Event Handling" in [Concept: PMD Scripting](/wcp_docs/oli1581402304020.html).

- Doesn't have default navigation buttons at the bottom of the page. You can add links or buttons to the PMD to provide navigation.

## <a id="section_f1w_mc2_3pb"></a>Confirmation Page

A confirmation page:

- Displays when the `presentation` tag in the PMD contains `"pageType": "confirm"`.
- Renders widgets that display read-only data. The enabled attribute of all tags on a confirmation page is always false.

The `onLoad` event is available on confirmation pages. For information about PMD Scripting events, see "Event Handling" in [Concept: PMD Scripting](/wcp_docs/oli1581402304020.html).

- Displays the <b>Done</b> button at the bottom of the page. The <b>Done</b> button navigates to the previous page. You can use a confirmation page at the end of a flow.
