### Prerequisites

<a id="prereq_ssv_vws_pwb"></a>
[Create Extend Apps Using App Builder](/wcp_docs/xer1651695264256.html)

### Context

<a id="context_it5_x1v_v4b"></a>
Business processes:

- Extend Workday’s Business Process Framework to create new business processes.
- Intelligently process app data by capturing approvals, triggering orchestrations, and more.

In addition, you can report on and audit business process events.

### Steps

1.  <a id="step_N10079_N10076_N10052_N10001"></a>In App Builder, add a <b>Business Process</b> component.
2. <a id="step_N100D8_N1002E_N1001E_N10001"></a>Author 1 or more business processes for your app. Example using Code mode:

    ```
    {
      "id": 1,
      "name": "CreateCharity",
      "label": "Create Charity",
      "description": "Create a Charity to accept Charitable Donations for.",
      "targetBusinessObject": "Charity",
      "securityDomains": [
        "myBpDomain"
      ],
      "allowsCancel": true,
      "allowsRescind": false,
      "approvalStep": {
        "actions": [
          "APPROVE",
          "DENY"
        ],
        "pageRoute": "/charityEvent/{eventId}"
      },
      "details": {
        "pageRoute": "/charityEvent/{eventId}"
      }
    }
    ```

    If you specify 1 or more security domains when you author a business process, the specified security domains override the default security domain specified on the target business object. Domains specified on the business process:

    - Allow access to the event business objects and the data source filters and report fields of the event business objects.
    - Don't allow access to the target business object.

    <b>Note:</b>

    - If the target business object doesn't have `"secureByTarget": true`, role-based security groups won't work properly in the business process security policy.
    - If you don't want to enable users to configure approval steps on a business process definition, don't include an `approvalStep` when you create the business process.
