### Prerequisites

-   Go to the [Developer Tools](/downloads/#wcp-plugin) page for the supported IntelliJ versions. The IntelliJ Community Edition is sufficient for Workday Extend app development.
-   The Workday Extend Plugin for IntelliJ repository URL.


### Context

Use the Workday Extend Plugin for IntelliJ for coding, validating, deploying, and testing your Workday Extend custom apps.

### Steps

1.  <a id="step_N1005D_N1005A_N1001E_N10001"></a>Open IntelliJ.
2.  <a id="step_N100AD_N100A0_N1001E_N10001"></a>Go to the <b>Custom Plugin Repositories</b>:

3.  <a id="step_N10191_N100AD_N1002D_N10001"></a>On the <b>Custom Plugin Repositories</b> window, enter the Workday Extend Plugin for IntelliJ repository URL:

    ```
    https://developer.workday.com/vps/ijplugin-assets/updatePlugins.xml
    ```

    1.  If you're installing the Workday Extend Plugin for IntelliJ for the first time, click the <b>+</b> icon, and enter the Workday Extend Plugin for IntelliJ repository URL.
    2.  If you're updating the Workday Extend Plugin for IntelliJ, select the existing Workday Extend Plugin for IntelliJ repository URL, and enter the new URL.
    3.  Click <b>OK</b> to close the <b>Custom Plugin Repositories</b> window and go back to the <b>Plugins</b> window.

4.  <a id="step_N100ED_N10043_N1001E_N10001"></a>Install the Workday Extend Plugin for IntelliJ:
    1.  On the <b>Plugins</b> window, click the <b>Marketplace</b> tab, and search for <b>Workday</b>.
    2.  Click <b>Install</b>.

5.  <a id="step_N10102_N10043_N1001E_N10001"></a>Restart IntelliJ.

After you install the Workday Extend Plugin for IntelliJ, the IntelliJ plugin repository automatically gets all Workday Extend Plugin for IntelliJ updates.
