### Prerequisites

You've deployed an app to a WCP Development tenant.

### Context

After you complete the development and unit testing of your Extend app on a Development tenant, you can:

- Promote the app to Implementation.

When you promote your app to Implementation, you can perform data validations and integration tests on an Implementation tenant.

- Promote the app to Sandbox. When you promote your app to Sandbox, you can validate and test your app on a Sandbox tenant using production data.

Note: On the external client credential store, you must create refresh tokens in both Sandbox and Sandbox Preview tenants. If you create business objects in Sandbox Preview but don't have refresh tokens in Sandbox Preview, you encounter HTTP 500 errors when accessing those business objects. If you've only created refresh tokens in the Sandbox tenant, you can only access the business objects in the Sandbox tenant.

- Promote the app to Production. When you promote your app to Production, your Company Administrator can install and configure the app on Production tenants.

Note: Compare Changes is available for Extend applications and Extend components only. You can’t compare changes for Orchestrations and Integration apps.

### Steps

1. From the Console section of the Developer Site menu, select Apps.

The list displays all apps in App Hub that belong to your account. Select Extend Apps in Production to view only Extend apps that are promoted to Production.

2. Find the app that you want to promote.

You can view your own apps or all apps, and search for the app. You can filter the list by reference ID or app name.

3. Select the app that you want to promote.
4. On the Promotions tab, select the latest version of the app and promote it to the next promotion level.

Current Promotion Level

Action

Development

Promote to Implementation.

Implementation

Promote to Sandbox.

Sandbox

Promote to Production.

5. When you promote an app to Production, carefully review the Promote to Production checklist. If your app meets all of the criteria, select My app meets these criteria, and then click Promote to Production again.

Before promoting an app with connectors to Production, configure a Production account for each connector.

### Result

You can install the promoted version of your app on the appropriate tenant type.

- Implementation tenants might take up to 1 minute to update the cached app.
- Sandbox and Production tenants might take up to 15 minutes to update the cached app.

New and updated model components of an app deploy to the Implementation tenant as part of Workday's Weekly Service Update.

As a consequence, you must promote your app before a weekly deadline for new or updated model components to deploy to your Workday tenant. To find your promotion deadline, see [Reference: Promotion Deadlines for Apps with Model Components](/wcp_docs/giw1660842903762.html).

Note: Workday makes updates to your app available to your tenant immediately, except when model components are already queued to deploy to the tenant during an upcoming Weekly Service Update. In this case, Workday makes updates to your app available to your tenant after the Weekly Service Update completes.

### Next Steps

Click Install next to the tenant on which you want to install the app. You only have to install the app once on each tenant.

Note: If you refresh your Implementation tenant from a tenant on which you haven't installed your app, or if you don't install your app on your Production tenant before Workday refreshes your Sandbox tenant, you must reinstall the app on your Implementation or Sandbox tenant.

In addition, you must reconfigure the app, including recreating all:

- Business process definitions.
- Business process security policies.
- Custom tasks.
- Domain security policies.
