## <a id="section_cyq_j1m_zsb"></a>Return Type

`Object`

## <a id="section_dz5_pwg_5db"></a>Instance Method Syntax

```
thisList.find(closure)
```

<table><thead><tr><th>Parameter</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>closure</td><td>The function that finds the list element. <p>Within a closure, you can't redefine the variables that are declared outside the closure.</p></td></tr></tbody></table><br/>

<b>Example</b>

`[1, 4, 8].find(x => {x % 2 == 0})`

Returns `4`

In this next example, assume this data:

```
{
  "data": [
    {
      "groups": [
        {
          "descriptor": "Compensation Administrator",
          "id": "123"
        },
        {
          "descriptor": "Compensation Partner",
          "id": "456"
        }
      ]
    }
  ],
  "total": 1
}
```

This script returns true if it finds a string in a list of data:

```
!empty getSomeData.data[0].groups.find(group => {group.descriptor == 'Compensation Administrator'}) ?? ''
```

## <a id="section_njs_xzl_zsb"></a>Namespace Function Syntax
