Attributes enable you to configure app-level, tenant-specific variables that your Workday Extend app can access during runtime. You can reference attributes in the presentation and orchestration components of your app.

## <a id="section_kqz_15p_3rb"></a>Adding Attributes to an App

You can add attributes to your app using the <b>Attributes</b> section in any of these tools:

- App Components panel in App Builder.
- Console on the Developer Site.

These tools save the attributes in App Hub, which enables you to configure them separately in the different tenants.

For details about adding attributes, see [Create Extend App Attributes](/wcp_docs/ddn1633979003074.html).

## <a id="section_cgt_f5p_3rb"></a>Assigning Attribute Values

To assign tenant-specific values to the attributes, use <b>App Manager</b> on the tenant. Each time you add or update app attributes, you must enable the attributes for update on <b>App Manager</b>.

For details about configuring attribute values on the tenant, see [Assign Extend App Attribute Values](/wcp_docs/tzm1634874879461.html).

To test app attributes in App Preview without connecting to the tenant, you can assign the attribute values in a mock data configuration.

For details about configuring app attributes in a mock data configuration, see "Configuring Untenanted App Attributes" in [Mock Data](/wcp_docs/fyx1669849518693.html).

## <a id="section_dxg_x5p_3rb"></a>Referencing the Attributes in an App

To reference a tenant-specific attribute value in your app, use the `attrstore` predefined variable. The `attrstore` variable contains all app attributes. An app attribute automatically resolves its value based on the tenant environment the app runs in.

This sample `text` tag assumes that you've created the <i>leadTester</i> attribute on the Console and that you've assigned a value in App Manager in the appropriate environments:

```
{
  "type": "text",
  "label": "Assigned lead tester in this environment:",
  "value": "<% attrstore.leadTester %>"
}
```
