### Prerequisites

<a id="prereq_N10021_N1001E_N10001"></a>
-   For Workday customers, you must be a Company Administrator to create and manage Workday Cloud Platform Development tenants. Workday provides Company Administrators with the ability to create a number of new self-service Development tenants. The contract signed with Workday Extend specifies the number of tenants.
-   For Personal Account users , you can create 1 Development Tenant. This tenant expires if you don’t log in to it for 7 consecutive days.


### Context

<a id="context_N10028_N1001E_N10001"></a>
Workday provides Company Administrators with the ability to create a number of new self-service Development tenants. The contract signed with Workday Extend specifies the number of tenants.

### Steps

1.  <a id="step_N10031_N1002E_N1001E_N10001"></a>From the <b>Console</b> section of the Developer Site menu, select <b>Tenants</b>.
2.  <a id="step_N1003E_N1002E_N1001E_N10001"></a>Under <b>Development Tenants</b>, click <b>+</b> to create a new tenant.

    Under <b>Other Tenants</b>, we display all Implementation, Sandbox, and Production tenants belonging to your account that are enabled for Workday Extend. These tenants aren't Development tenants, and display for convenience purposes only.

3.  <a id="step_N10057_N1002E_N1001E_N10001"></a>Select a <b>Tenant Type</b>.
4.  <a id="step_N1006C_N1002E_N1001E_N10001"></a>After you successfully request the new tenant, a new row displays on the <b>Development Tenants</b> grid. The grid updates the status of the new Development tenant while it builds.
5.  <a id="step_N10084_N10041_N10031_N10001"></a>When the new Development tenant is ready for use, an email from Workday notifies the Company Administrator who created the tenant. This email contains sign-in information for the tenant.
6.  <a id="step_N10088_N10041_N10031_N10001"></a>Sign in to the new Development tenant and change your password within 72 hours. Use the appropriate user name for your tenant type:

### Result

The Workday Developer Site displays:

-   The <b>Tenant Alias</b>.
-   A <b>Login Link</b> to the tenant.
-   The <b>Status</b> of the tenant.
-   The <b>Tenant Type</b>.
-   The name of the <b>Creator</b> of the tenant (displays on the side panel to the right of the table).


### Next Steps

<a id="postreq_N10091_N1001E_N10001"></a>
Company Administrators can reset the password of a Development tenant. Select the tenant, then click the <b>Reset Password</b> link on the side panel to the right of the table. You'll receive an email from Workday containing new sign-in information for the tenant. Sign in to the Development tenant and change your password within 72 hours. Use the appropriate user name for your tenant type.

Company Administrators can also delete Development tenants from the Workday Developer Site.

To delete a Development tenant, select the tenant, then click <b>Delete Tenant</b> on the side panel. Click to confirm that you want to delete the tenant, and then click <b>Delete</b>.

<b>Important:</b> Deleting a Development tenant is an irreversible action that permanently deletes data and configuration stored in the tenant. Ensure that you’ve saved any data you want to keep before proceeding.

If you delete and then create a new Development tenant, Workday will reuse the tenant URL for the new tenant.

-   If you have only 1 Development tenant, the tenant alias of the new tenant will be the same as the tenant alias of the tenant you deleted.
-   If you have multiple Development tenants, the new tenant will use the tenant alias with the lowest number.
