Reports extend Workday's reporting model to enable you to report on your Workday Extend app data.

You can use App Builder to author reports in JSON. The reports you author are native to your Workday Extend app. As a consequence, you can use reports in multiple environments without needing to configure the report in each tenant.

Reports:

-   Are Workday standard reports of the Advanced report type.
-   Are secured by 1 or more domains in the same Extend app.
-   Can include both regular and derived fields from an Extend business object or attachment in the same app.
-   Use a report data source provided by an Extend business object or attachment in the same app.


You can sort reports based on any fields in an Extend business object or attachment in the same app. In addition, you can copy a report into a custom report for further customization.

When you create an advanced custom report using an Extend business object or attachment's report data source and apply a filter that is populated from a prompt, you can select instances of the target Extend business object or attachment from the prompt. To do this, you must:

-   Add the `"enableSearch": true` attribute to a `TEXT` field of the target Extend business object or attachment to enable the field values to be selectable from the prompt. You must also set the `"enableIndex": true` attribute on this field.
-   Select a `SINGLE_INSTANCE` field of the Extend business object or attachment from the Field prompt to use in the filter.


You can then use the filter to prompt the user to select an instance of the target Extend business object or attachment, or you can select an instance of the target Extend business object or attachment from the <b>Comparison Value</b> prompt. In either case, the prompt displays the values of the search-enabled `TEXT` field for up to 500 instances of the target Extend business object or attachment.

You can enable the values of up to 3 `TEXT` fields to be selectable from prompts in an Extend app.

You can also type ahead in the prompt to search for instances. If the target Extend business object or attachment has more than 500 instances, not all instances display values in the prompt, and you must type ahead to narrow your search.
