  Concept: Analytics Dashboard
layout: subsection
---

<b>Note:</b> This topic applies to Accounts opened before March 16th, 2026.

The <b>Analytics</b> dashboard provides statistics, graphs, and logs that developers and administrators can use to gain insight into their apps. Workday aggregates data across all apps in all environments for the dashboard.

The <b>Analytics</b> dashboard includes 3 tabs:

<table><thead><tr><th>Tab</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p><b>Usage</b></p></td><td><p>Provides data usage statistics and graphs for your apps, including API, data transfer, and request and response values.</p></td></tr><tr><td><p><b>Performance</b></p></td><td><p>Provides visibility into page and API performance, including API response times and page errors.</p></td></tr><tr><td><p><b>Logs</b></p></td><td><p>Provides log data that enables you to monitor, troubleshoot, and debug your apps.</p><p><b>Note:</b> Workday permanently deletes log files that are older than 30 days. If you need to keep them for longer than 30 days, users with an Admin role can download logs from the <b>Logs</b> tab of the <b>Analytics</b> dashboard. When you download the logs, any filters applied in the view aren't included in the downloaded file.</p></td></tr></tbody></table><br/>

## <a id="section_lz2_5vx_xhb"></a>Usage

The <b>Usage</b> tab provides statistics and graphs that administrators and developers can use to monitor data usage for their apps. Workday populates the <b>Usage</b> tab with a filter so that you automatically view usage data for your Production tenants. We also populate the date picker so that you view usage data for the past 30 days. You can modify these filters or add additional filters to find more granular usage data for specific APIs, apps, environments, and more. Workday measures all usage data in bytes.

The <b>Usage</b> tab includes these statistics:

- <b>Total Apps</b>
- <b>Total Usage</b>

This tab also includes graphs that display:

- <b>Breakdown Per App</b>
- <b>Workday API Types</b>
- <b>Data Transfer Breakdown by Request/Response</b>
- <b>Data Transfer Breakdown by Hostname</b>

The <b>Breakdown Per App</b> graph refers to the <i>wd_app_id</i> field for your app. If the app doesn't have an ID, the graph will refer to the <i>wd_client_id</i> field instead.

## <a id="section_eql_ttt_1kb"></a>Performance

The <b>Performance</b> tab includes graphs that display app performance and error data. These graphs enable administrators and developers to implement performance checks and identify problems with app performance. Graphs on the <b>Performance</b> tab display data in 12-hour increments. All response-time values are in milliseconds.

The performance graphs include:

- <b>Page Load Times</b>
- <b>API Response Times</b>
- <b>Page Errors</b>
- <b>API Response Errors</b>

## <a id="section_ebj_qwf_1kb"></a>Logs

The <b>Logs</b> tab enables developers to view logs for their app deployments

Logs are available for these Workday services:

- API Gateway.
- Workday Orchestrate.
- Presentation Components (available to Extend app developers but not to integration app developers).

These logs are available for your app:

<table><thead><tr><th>Log Type</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p>Access</p></td><td><p>Provides information about client requests.</p></td></tr><tr><td><p>App</p></td><td><p>Provides debugging, informational, warning, and error messages related to an app request.</p></td></tr><tr><td><p>Audit</p></td><td><p>Enables administrators to track changes to code, including:</p><ul><li>What code changes occurred.
</li><li>When code changes happened.
</li><li>Why developers implemented code changes.
</li><li>Who promoted code from development into Production.
</li></ul></td></tr><tr><td><p>Remote</p></td><td><p>Provides information about requests to an external service.</p></td></tr></tbody></table><br/>

The <b>Logs</b> tab ingests log data with a 1-minute latency. You can update log entries by clicking <b>Refresh</b> on the dashboard.

<b>Note:</b> Workday permanently deletes log files that are older than 30 days. If you need to keep them for longer than 30 days, users with an Admin role can download logs from the <b>Logs</b> tab of the <b>Analytics</b> dashboard. When you download the logs, any filters applied in the view aren't included in the downloaded file.

Logs are only available for tenants assigned to your company. Any tenant assigned directly to a user won't display logs on the dashboard.

## <a id="section_tjy_gpy_slb"></a>Filter and Search Capabilities

<a id="section_ob3_2py_slb"></a>
On each tab of the <b>Analytics</b> dashboard, we provide:

- A filter that enables you to query specific log fields.
- A search bar that enables you to search the indexed log fields for specific values.
- A date picker that enables you to locate app events and logs by date.

Filters enable you to view more granular data for each statistic, graph, or log. To add a filter, you must select a field and an operator, and then add a value if necessary.

Example: On the <b>Usage</b> tab, you can add a filter with these values to view data usage for all apps in Production environments:

- <b>Field</b>: <i>wd_env</i>
- <b>Operator</b>: <i>is</i>
- <b>Value</b>: `PROD`

You can save your filter queries. Saved queries enable you to more easily track events when troubleshooting your app. You can use a saved query on any of the dashboard tabs.

To filter by date range, you can use the <i>wd_date_time</i> field and the <i>is between</i> operator along with the start and end date and time. The filter allows for 2 different time formats that you can use interchangeably.

The first format follows the ISO standard date and time format. Example: `2020-05-19T16:00:00`.

The second format uses date math. You can enter an expression with an anchor date, either `now` or a date string ending with `||`. You can then use time units to add or subtract time from the anchor date. Example: Add `now-30d` to set a time 30 days ago.

Time units include:

<table><thead><tr><th>Unit</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><code>M</code></td><td>Months</td></tr><tr><td><code>d</code></td><td>Days</td></tr><tr><td><code>h</code></td><td>Hours</td></tr><tr><td><code>m</code></td><td>Minutes</td></tr><tr><td><code>s</code></td><td>Seconds</td></tr></tbody></table><br/>
