You can use the Create Custom Business Process Event Task Definition and Create Custom Business Process Type tasks to create custom business processes for workflows specific to the needs of your organization and for which Workday doesn't provide delivered business processes.

You can also use:

- The customBusinessProcessConfig REST API to create custom business process types.
- The customBusinessProcess REST API to create and launch custom business process events.

You can use these tasks or the REST API to define:

- The pages used for each event action. Example: Approval, Revise, and Event Details.
- The available event actions.
- The target business object. The only target business object currently supported is Worker.
- The initiating allowed action. Example: You can use a use custom task to initiate workflow in a custom business process.
- Worker-based effective dated custom objects.

Business Process Administrators can use Workday to:

- View the custom business process type and configure the business process security policy.
- Create or edit the default business process definition.
- Build custom reports based on the Action Event business object.

When creating or editing the default business process definition, Business Process Administrators can:

- Configure these steps:

    - Initiation.
    - Action.
    - Approval.
    - Integration.
    - Service.
    - Edit Additional Data.
    - To Do.
    - Checklist.

- Configure condition rules, notifications, and custom reports based on the Action Event business object.

If you enable approval and associated approval actions, Approvers can:

- View any data submitted within a custom business process event on the approval page.
- Send back a custom business process to the Initiator for revision.
- Deny a custom business process.

Business Process Administrators can also cancel a custom business process event.
