### Context

<a id="context_N10021_N1001E_N10001"></a>
You can author context-free tasks that secured users can use to access your Extend app in Workday. Users can also find context-free tasks in global search.

You can add context-free model tasks to the Apps menu on the <b>Global Navigation Menu</b>.

### Steps

1.  <a id="step_N1006E_N1006B_N10052_N10001"></a>In App Builder, add a <b>Task</b> component.
2.  <a id="step_N10048_N10028_N1001E_N10001"></a>Author 1 or more context-free tasks for your app. In order for the task to be context-free, don't add a business object to the task.

    Example using Code mode:

    ```
    {
    "id": 1,
    "name": "CharityHome",
    "label": "Charity Home",
    "routePath": "/",
    "securityDomains": ["ManageCharities", "ManageCharitableDonations"]
    }
    ```

    The `routePath` must correspond to an existing `routingPattern` in the `tasks[]` array in the AMD file of your app. Example:

    ```
    {
      "id": "root",
      "routingPattern": "/",
      "page": {
        "id": "home"
      }
    }
    ```

    The `securityDomains` must include 1 or more domains defined in your app.



### Result

You can use the context-free task as an entry point to your Extend app or to access any page in your app. In Workday, you can also add the task to:

-   Announcements
-   Configurable Alerts
-   Dashboards
-   Global Navigation Menu
-   Hubs
-   Journeys
-   Landing Pages
-   Shortcuts
-   To Dos
