### Prerequisites

<a id="prereq_N10021_N1001E_N10001"></a>
Create or open a Workday Extend app in App Builder.

### Context

<a id="context_N1002A_N1001E_N10001"></a>
You can use App Builder visual mode to author reports. Reports enable you to easily analyze your Workday Extend app data.

### Steps

1. <a id="step_N10041_N1003E_N1001F_N10001"></a>In App Builder, click the <b>Add</b> button next to <b>Reports</b> in the components panel.
2. <a id="step_N10052_N1003E_N1001F_N10001"></a>Provide a <b>Name</b> for the report. The name must begin with an uppercase alphabetic character (A–Z) and contain only alphanumeric characters (A–Z, a – z, 0–9). The maximum length allowed is 100 characters.
3. <a id="step_N10062_N1003E_N1001F_N10001"></a>Use the toggle switch in the upper right of the interface to ensure that App Builder is in Visual mode.
4. <a id="step_N10059_N1002F_N1001F_N10001"></a>Use the <b>Report</b> tab to provide fundamental information about your component. As you complete this tab, consider:

<table><thead><tr><th> Option</th><th> Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><b>Name</b></td><td>You can edit the name you provided earlier.</td></tr><tr><td><b>Label</b></td><td>(Optional) Provide a label that succinctly indicates the purpose of the report. <p>If you specify a label, it must be unique for each model component type within an app.</p> <p>If you don't specify a label, Workday displays the name in the tenant.</p></td></tr><tr><td><b>Default Security Domains</b></td><td>Specify the default security domains that control access to all columns within the report. Each report requires at least 1 default security domain. You can only use the names of security domains defined in the same app.</td></tr><tr><td><b>Target Business Object</b></td><td>Select a business object or attachment you defined in the app. <p>The business object provides the report data source. Its fields and derived fields are automatically populated as columns in the report model.</p></td></tr></tbody></table><br/>

5. <a id="step_N100A5_N10031_N1001E_N10001"></a>Use the <b>Columns</b> tab to configure your report's columns. The columns are based on fields and derived fields in the business object you specified on the <b>Report</b> tab. Drag and drop columns to specify the order in which they appear in the report. As you complete this tab, consider:

<table><thead><tr><th> Option</th><th> Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><b>Configure Sort Order</b></td><td>Click to open the <b>Configure Sort Order</b> panel. Drag and drop columns in the panel to specify the order in which they're sorted. You can apply ascending or descending sorting here as well as on the main <b>Columns</b> tab.</td></tr><tr><td><b>Show Hidden Columns</b></td><td>Select to display here any columns that you've chosen to hide in the report.</td></tr><tr><td><b>Column Name</b></td><td>The column name that appears in the report. <p>The Column Name with the status "SELF REFERENCING" returns an instance of the business object or attachment. There can only be 1 of this type of column. You can't sort on this column.</p></td></tr><tr><td><b>Field Name</b></td><td>The name of the business object field or derived field that the column's based on. <p><b>Note:</b> When a business object’s field name is changed, the associated report column is no longer valid. App Builder outlines the invalid column in red and adds a new column that reflects the name change. The new column is hidden at first. Show it and delete the invalid column. Remember to adjust any associated sort configuration.</p></td></tr><tr><td><b>Field Type</b></td><td>The type of the business object field or derived field that the column's based on.</td></tr><tr><td><b>Sort by</b></td><td>Apply ascending or descending sorting to the column. To unsort, toggle the current sorting choice by clicking it again. <p>You can sort by hidden columns.</p></td></tr><tr><td><b>Show/Hide</b></td><td>Choose whether to display or hide columns in the report.</td></tr></tbody></table><br/>
