External Extend apps are third-party applications that use a custom, non-Workday UI to interact with Workday data. External apps:

-   Can use orchestrations.
-   Don't use presentation or model components.
-   Don't run on a Workday tenant.

Use the Workday Canvas Kit to create user experiences consistent with Workday's design principles. The Workday Canvas Kit is an open-source library of components for the Workday Canvas Design System.
