-   At the time of initiation, we know that the Extend subprocess event’s target will be the parent business process event.
-   The Extend subprocess event’s target needs to be an instance of an Extend business object.


You must associate the Extend business object instance to the Extend subprocess event to ensure the proper workflow for the Extend subprocess. To do this, use the Extend subprocess event ID that you obtained in [Get the Event Step and Event IDs](/wcp_docs/GUID-c10fb6e2-3b9d-4ce9-8af9-ec95c070c0fc-enHYPHENus.html). Invoke the`PATCH` endpoint of the Extend Business Process Event API. In the request body, specify the `businessProcessTarget` with the Extend business object instance ID.

This example is the page outbound endpoint that submits the PATCH endpoint of the sample Create Charity Events API. Note that the event ID path parameter is the event ID from the sample <i>searchEvent</i> endpoint in [Get the Event Step and Event IDs](/wcp_docs/GUID-c10fb6e2-3b9d-4ce9-8af9-ec95c070c0fc-enHYPHENus.html):
