## Purpose

Use this component to create 1 or more boolean expressions that test specified conditions and to log messages if those expressions evaluate to `false`.

Note: An orchestration doesn’t automatically stop processing if a validation fails.

## Template Availability

This component is available in these orchestration templates:

- Synchronous
- Asynchronous
- Business Process
- Home Card
- Integration System
- Custom Agent Actions

## Properties

Provide a meaningful Reference Name for the step as it will appear in your orchestration.

Provide a Name for the validation.

In the Validation field, use Expression Builder to specify a boolean condition.

Select the Severity of the message that's logged when a condition evaluates to `false`, either Warning or Error.

In the Message field, use Expression Builder to create the content of the logged message.

Downstream steps can reference these outputs from the Validate component:

- `allValid`
- `anyError`
- `anyWarning`
- `failedValidations`

The `allValid` output evaluates to `true` if none of the validations evaluated to `false`.

The `anyError` output evaluates to `true` if 1 or more validations evaluate to false with a Severity of Error.

The `anyWarning` output evaluates to `true` if 1 or more validations evaluate to false with a Severity of Warning.

The `failedValidations` output is an iterator type that you can use in conjunction with a Loop step to iterate through failed validation messages.

The `failedValidations` iterator has 3 functions that can access data from a failed validation:

- name
- severity
- summary (the log message)
