### Prerequisites

- An Extend app. To create a new app, see [Create Extend Apps Using App Builder](/wcp_docs/xer1651695264256.html).
- Existing:

    - Context-free model tasks. To create context-free tasks, see [Add Context-Free Tasks](/wcp_docs/hoh1677268658732.html).
    - Model reports. To create reports, see [Add Reports](/wcp_docs/mhb1677268738676.html).

We recommend that you create context-free model tasks or model reports in Workday Extend before you create profile groups. By creating tasks and reports beforehand, you can select them in the <b>Allowed Tasks</b> and <b>Allowed Reports</b> prompts in App Builder.

Ensure users have the domain security policy permission to access the context-free model tasks and reports.

### Context

In Workday, profile groups enable you to organize and display tasks and reports together within a profile. Workday has different profiles that you can add profile groups to. Example: The Worker Profile is an example of a profile and on that profile, these are some of the profile groups for the profile:

- <b>Benefit</b>
- <b>Compensation</b>
- <b>Job</b>

In an Extend app, you can create model profile groups that administrators can then add to an existing profile in Workday. By building a model profile group, you can define the:

- Reports and context-free model tasks that display in each profile group.
- Profile groups that display in each Workday profile.
- Display order of the profile groups, reports, and tasks.

<b>Note:</b> Some PMD pages might not be compatible with profile groups. Example: Nested tabs on Extend pages might not render correctly inside profile groups.

### Steps

1. In your Workday tenant, access the <b>View Profiles Available to Extend</b> report.

This report display a list of profiles that you can create a model profile group for.

<b>Note:</b> Currently, you can create a model profile group for 31 Workday profiles.

2. In App Builder, add a <b>Profile Groups</b> component.
3. Build the content of your profile group in Visual or Code mode.

You can only select 1 profile in the <b>Workday Profiles</b> prompt in App Builder.

Be mindful of the length of the <b>Name</b> and <b>Label</b> attributes. Different Workday profiles might have different character limits which can prevent:

    - The entire profile group name from displaying.
    - Context-free model tasks from rendering correctly.

    For details, see [Profile Group](/wcp_docs/GUID-ecfe9604-9234-4f05-b17d-b7db59b754f8.html).

4. Click <b>Validate</b>.
5. Click <b>Save and Deploy</b>.

### Next Steps

We recommend that you test the app in your Development and Implementation tenants before you promote the app to your Production tenant.

Add and configure the model profile group in your Workday tenant.
