title: Change Dark Mode Theme for Developer Site
layout: subsection
---

### Context

You can change the Developer Site’s theme (colors for text and background). You can change colors manually, or have the colors change based on your operating system preferences. If you don’t override display settings, Workday defaults the Developer Site to display in Dark mode (dark background with light text).

### Steps

1. Access the user menu using any of these options:
    - From the Developer Site home page, click the user menu in the top right-hand corner of the page.
    - From App Builder or Orchestration Builder, click the user icon in the lower left-hand corner of the page.

2. In the Theme area, select an option to change display settings:
    - Dark: Developer Site displays a dark background with light text and controls (Dark Mode). This is the default setting.
    - Light: Developer Site displays a light background with dark text and controls.
    - System: Developer Site changes display from light background to dark background automatically, depending on your operating system preferences.

### Result

The Developer Site displays the background and text colors that you chose everywhere in your Developer Site session, no matter which menu (main page, App Builder, Orchestration Builder) you used to make the change.
