The Document Intelligence REST APIs use machine learning to simplify the handling and processing of enterprise business documents for automating end-to-end business user flows. Using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies, the Document Intelligence REST APIs can scan images and extract text. The Document Intelligence REST APIs accept an input file attachment in the request body:

-   If you're using a client tool such as Bruno, select the binary format and attach a file, such as an image file with text.
-   In an Extend app, you can:

    -   Create a [model attachment object](/wcp_docs/rxi1560967931825.html).
    -   Use a [fileUploader](/wcp_docs/icc1518036830536.html) widget to upload and submit the file as an attachment object.
    -   Use an orchestration to get the model attachment object and send it as text in the request body. Example: See the Scan Document orchestration in the [Document Intelligence with the AI Gateway](https://developer.workday.com/app-catalog/documentIntelligenceWithTheAIGateway) reference app.

For client tools such as Bruno, use the Bearer token for your tenant API access.

The maximum file size is 20 MB.
