### Context

When you use a PMD page to initiate an Extend subprocess, the page must perform these actions.

### Steps

1.  [Fetch the Event Step ID](/wcp_docs/GUID-c10fb6e2-3b9d-4ce9-8af9-ec95c070c0fc-enHYPHENus.html).

    Fetch the event step ID using the PMD token parameter.

2.  [Create or Select an Extend Business Object Instance](/wcp_docs/GUID-c6f6ce6f-b7c2-4540-97af-986589939f15-enHYPHENus.html).

    Create or select an instance of an Extend business object and associate it with the Extend subprocess event. This association ensures the correct workflow for the Extend subprocess definition.

3.  [Update the Target of the Extend Subprocess Event](/wcp_docs/GUID-f9dd0f7d-138c-4ddc-9cc1-494d285e1d92-enHYPHENus.html).

    Update (PATCH) the target of the Extend subprocess event to the Extend business object instance you created or selected.

4.  [Submit the Current Event Step](/wcp_docs/GUID-814690d1-9775-46e3-bf82-3ed76a7069d3-enHYPHENus.html).

    Submit the event step only if the Extend subprocess event target was successfully updated.
