### Prerequisites

<a id="d481e271"></a>
Security: <i>Workday Query Language</i>  domain in the System functional area.

### Context

<a id="d481e280"></a>
You can test Workday Query Language (WQL) queries in your tenant as an alternative to testing them in third-party applications. Workday returns up to 500 rows of results, providing you with a response you can use to continue developing your query.

### Steps

1.  <a id="d481e288"></a>Access the <b>View WQL Query Result</b> report.
2. <a id="d481e297"></a>Enter a WQL query for which you want to view sample results.

    Workday truncates the results to 500 rows when you enter a query:

    -   Without a limit.
    -   With a limit greater than 500.

3. <a id="d481e315"></a>(Optional) To save the query for later use, enter a name for it and click <b>Save</b>.

    You can access the <b>Manage My Saved Filters</b> report later to retrieve the saved query.

### Example

When you enter this query:

```
SELECT location, count()
FROM allWorkers
GROUP BY location
ORDER BY count ()
LIMIT 4
```

Workday returns the discrete count of locations in ascending order because of the clause `ORDER BY count ()`:

<table><thead><tr><th>Location</th><th>Count</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Main Campus</td><td>419</td></tr><tr><td>Pleasanton</td><td>1042</td></tr><tr><td>San Francisco</td><td>1103</td></tr><tr><td>London</td><td>1172</td></tr></tbody></table><br/>

To sort the discrete count of locations in descending order, specify:

```
ORDER BY count () desc
```
